Eleanor Albanese

I began my artistic career in the 1970's, as an actress, touring small northern towns doing mask and clown performances. Since then, I've moved into playwriting, arts education, visual arts and film. When I look back, I see that I have always been drawn to stories that resonate with another era or stories of inter-generational friendships. I gravitate towards beautifully written and illustrated children's books (Hans Christian Anderson and Oscar Wilde); costumes and fabrics; accordions and violins and pianos. My first inspiration has been and always will be my family; my own six siblings, my parents, my grandmothers now passed on, my life partner and my now-grown three children. My hope is to encourage others to find what resonates for them, and to trust their own creative voices.
